Each week inside my membership, Inbox to Income, I review the emails of brilliant coaches and course creators, just like you.
It’s one of the highlights of my week—getting a peek into their world and helping them fine-tune their messages. 🤝
BUT I’ve noticed a few common mistakes coaches and course creators make when it comes to writing their emails, which really hold them back.
If other coaches are making them, my bet is that you might just be making them too.
So today, I want to address these mistakes and give you a few pointers on how you can improve your emails.
Sound good? Let’s go.
It’s easy to want to say everything at once, especially when you’re passionate about your offer.
But when an email tries to juggle too many balls, it often drops them all.
Instead of focusing on multiple offers or calls to actions in your email, have ONE goal and one goal ONLY for your email—whether that’s driving downloads to a new lead magnet, getting sales, booking discovery calls, or simply inviting a reply.
We all want to sound like we know what we’re talking about, but if your audience needs a thesaurus to understand your emails, you’ll lose interest quick. 😴
And do you know what the most POWERFUL language is?
Language your audience actually understands and language that’s authentically you.
Keep your words simple and clear. And when it comes to injecting your personality into it, think about how you’d explain your offer to a friend over coffee, and write that way.
When you write emails that try to appeal to every single type of client or customer, they often resonate with no one.
Instead, have ONE person in mind when you write your email and write directly to them.
This will make your readers feel like you’re speaking directly to them which, in turn, gets them taking action!
The best emails tell a story because it hooks. people. in.
Humans love to hear stories. It’s what helps us connect and feel like we know someone!
It doesn’t have to be an epic tale—sometimes a small anecdote about a client’s success or a personal insight from your daily life can make your content relatable and engaging.
If your readers don’t know what you want them to do next, they’ll likely do nothing.
Make sure you always include a call to action and make it clear.
You can guess what will resonate with your audience, but until you test, you won’t know for sure.
Test different subject lines (always use A/B testing)
Test different stories.
Test different selling angles.
Notice what works and do it again. Or try something different!
That’s exactly what we do in Inbox to Income.
I review your emails, answer your questions, and help you connect, nurture, and sell with email.
