A fast, simple way to write high-converting welcome emails — in your own voice.
If you’ve ever put off writing your welcome emails because it felt too hard to know what to say, how many emails to send, or how to make it sound like you… I’ve got good news.
You don’t have to start from scratch.
And you definitely don’t have to settle for copy-paste, lifeless AI emails either.
You can use AI to write a warm, trust-building, value-packed welcome sequence.
The key? It’s not just what you prompt… it’s how you guide the process, infuse your voice, and align each email with your goals.
Let’s break it down step-by-step — including the exact 5-email structure I use, the AI prompts I recommend, and how to use them to create a sequence that builds connection and leads to sales.
Let’s start with the obvious:
If someone’s just downloaded your freebie, they’re paying attention.
In fact, welcome emails get 4x higher open rates and 5x higher click rates than regular emails. They’re your first (and best) chance to:
And yet? So many people either skip the welcome sequence altogether…
Or they send a one-liner like “Here’s your freebie — enjoy!” and leave it at that.
But if you’re trying to grow your list and sell digital products, courses, or programs — you need more than a freebie delivery email.
You need a strategic sequence that nurtures your subscriber through their first week with you.
This is the exact sequence I use and teach — simple, intentional, and high-converting.
Goal: Deliver the promised freebie and set clear expectations
This email is short, friendly, and immediate. It’s not the time to sell (unless you’re using a low-ticket tripwire — I’ll explain that in a sec).
What to include:
If you have a low-ticket offer:
You can follow the freebie link with something like:
“Want to take the next step and [solve pain point faster]? For the next 15 minutes, you can grab [low-ticket product] for just [$X]. It’s a quick win that pairs perfectly with what you just downloaded.”
This is one of the best places to plug a no-brainer offer — and yes, I do this in my own funnel with great results.
Goal: Welcome them personally, show empathy, and invite connection
This is your opportunity to say, “Hey, I see you. I’ve been where you are. Here’s how I can help.”
What to include:
This reply request is gold. It helps you:
Example prompt to feed ChatGPT:
“Write an intro email for my brand [name]. My audience is [describe audience] who downloaded [freebie]. They typically struggle with [insert pain points]. I want to show I understand them and invite replies with their biggest challenge.”
Goal: Build trust by sharing why you do what you do
People want to know the person behind the brand — especially if you’re asking them to buy from you down the track.
This isn’t about listing qualifications. It’s about your why.
What you struggled with. What changed. And how you help people now.
What to include:
Example AI prompt:
“Write a story-driven email that shares why I started my business and how I help [audience]. Keep the tone warm and relatable. The story should show empathy and hint at the transformation I now help others achieve.”
Goal: Share a quick win or lesson that positions you as a helpful guide
This is your chance to teach something small but powerful.
Something your reader can implement quickly and see results from.
What to include:
This builds trust fast — and shows them that you actually know what you’re talking about.
Bonus tip: You can also repurpose content here from a popular Instagram post or blog — let AI help format and simplify it.
Goal: Introduce your offer without being pushy
No one likes a hard sell. And in your welcome sequence? It’s not necessary.
But that doesn’t mean you can’t mention your product.
This is the perfect time to say, “Hey, if you’re ready for the next step — here’s how I can help.”
What to include:
Example prompt for AI:
“Write a soft pitch email for my $7 Ultimate Sales Page Builder Board. My audience is coaches and course creators who feel stuck writing their sales page. Keep the tone helpful, not pushy. Include a CTA but make it feel low-pressure.”
Here’s how to make AI work for you — and still keep your voice front and centre.
AI is only as good as the instructions you give it. Be specific about:
Don’t ask for the whole sequence in one go.
Start with Email 1, then prompt for the next — each time building on the previous message.
AI gives you the first draft.
But your job is to:
This is where you introduce your offers — softly.
Just a short overview with links to your core products so new subscribers can check them out if they’re ready.
I do this in every email. And it generates sales every time!
Instead of staring at a blank doc or trying to wrangle AI into saying what you actually mean…
